WFP PROVIDES FOOD FOR NEW EVD CONTACTS
Thu, 2016-04-07 09:48 — davidmcWFP truck arrives at the Montserrado County Health Team office on Duport Road with a consignment of food items The World Food Programme (WFP) has reportedly delivered food items to the Montserrado County Health Team for distribution among nearly 100 contacts from new Ebola Virus Disease cases in Liberia.
According to a press release, WFP has so far delivered nearly two metric tons of food to be distributed among the EVD contacts currently under precautionary quarantine. WFP was initially requested, during the emergency Incidence Management System (IMS) meeting held on 1st April to provide urgent food assistance for EVD contacts quarantined and placed under surveillance. The consignment of food items, which include rice, beans, vegetable oil and corn soya blend (or CSB), is being distributed through the Montserrado County Health Teams.
During the 2014-2015 EVD Emergency Response, the World Food Programme in Liberia swiftly provided emergency food assistance to all EVD-isolated communities throughout the country. WFP, under the Logistics Common Services Programme, also provided to the Logistics Cluster enormous supply chain assistance including transportation and storage services to all partner agencies and government counterparts up to December 2015.
