The Chief Administrator (CA) of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) has asked the Anti-Corruption Commission to help in the fight against tax evasion in the Western Area Rural District and also to advocate for better conditions of service for staff of Local Councils.
This call was made in a meeting organized by the ACC for the staff of WARDC. The meeting was part of the proactive strategy of the Commission, targeting MDAs nation-wide on corruption prevention mechanisms and initiatives.
While showering commendations for the effectiveness and efficiency of the ACC, the CA stated that “The ACC is a hub for sanity in the nation.”
Making a statement on behalf of the ACC, Deputy Director of Public Education and Outreach, Patrick Sandi declared the purpose of ACC’s customized meetings with MDAs, citing the clause in Section 7, sub-section 2(O) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008, which mandates the Commission to conduct outreach meetings on corruption issues. Mr. Sandi was quick to state that small salary is not a primary reason for indulgence in corruption.
